A note about where this comes from 

This cleanse follows a traditional food-based Ayurvedic protocol from the Maharishi Ayurveda lineage—the same classical approach that teachers like Deepak Chopra and Jon Douillard learned and have shared widely.

I've adapted it for regular life, at home, for women who are still working and parenting but need their bodies to reset.

The healing effects of this protocol will keep rolling in over for 2-3 months and is traditionally repeated several times a year for increasing and cumulative benefits

Cleanse Structure (14 days)

This cleanse follows a traditional rhythm: prepare, cleanse, complete. You can shorten this to 7-10 days by adjusting the preparation and completion phases.

Day 1-3: Preparation

• Begin tapering caffeine, alcohol or weed (if you use them)

• Simplify meals—warm, cooked, easy to digest

• Start earlier bedtimes

• Reduce processed foods, sugar, and cold/raw foods

• Stock your kitchen with cleanse supplies

• Clear your calendar for the cleanse period

This phase reduces shock to your system and sets you up to actually complete the cleanse.

Day 4-8: Full Cleanse

• Simple, warm, repetitive meals (kitchari or mono-diet)

• Healthy fats daily (ghee or sesame oil)

• Warm water and herbal tea throughout the day

• Early to bed, gentle movement only

• Minimal inputs (less screen time, fewer decisions, quieter days)

• This is the core reset phase- culminating in a full digestive reset

Day 9-14: Completion

• Continue simple, warm meals but with slightly more variety and digestive support 

• Maintain rhythm (sleep, meal timing, warm liquids)

• Slowly reintroduce foods—warm and cooked first

• Avoid rushing back to normal

• This phase stabilizes digestion and locks in the benefits

The transition out matters as much as the cleanse itself.

FOR SHORTER CLEANSES:

 7 days: 2 days prep / 3 days full cleanse / 2 days completion

10 days: 2 days prep / 5 days full cleanse / 3 days completion

The core principle stays the same: prepare your system, give it focused time to reset, then stabilize carefully.

Deeper rest add-on (optional, 3 days) 

If you want to go a little further, you can add a 3-day extension near the end of the cleanse.

What the 3 days look like:

• Keep meals very simple and warm (same foods from the cleanse)

• Rest more—go to bed earlier, do less, say no to more things

• Self-massage with warm oil for 10-20 minutes daily

• Warm shower after

• Warm water and tea throughout the day

• Gentle walks if you want—no hard workouts

• Treat yourself like you're recovering (because you are)
